I made this when first lady Laura Bush stopped by the show. This is a heart-healthy recipe, although I used white bread instead of wheat bread. But you can use the whole wheat white bread that is now available just as well! –RR

Inspired by Sicily, this Orange and Red Onion Salad is refreshing and sweet on a hot summer day. Navel oranges work best.

This dressing is sweet (no pun intended)! Drizzle it over spinach or any lettuce you choose. Rach likes to use mixed greens when she makes it. The balsamic vinegar gives it a little kick.

I made this for my 6-year-old friend Matthew. He visited me on the show and is severly allergic to dairy and peanut butter. But he sure likes this burger, so I thought I would share it with you.

Rachael says, "There's nothing better than snacking on a good dip – I call them snack'ables! This one is a very basic snack'able that is similar to hummus, but it uses white cannellini beans instead of chickpeas. Dip in your favorite veggies or some nice baked pita chips. Hey, if you don't have certain herbs on hand, improvise – there aren't rules in cooking!"

On a hot summer day, what better snack is there than popping some frozen grapes in your mouth? They are cool, refreshing and nutritious. We've taken frozen grapes to the next level and made a frozen grape slushy – jam packed with fruit to start the day off right.

This salad uses summer veggies but can also be made all year round; if you can't find asparagus, use steamed broccoli instead. This makes a great side dish for a barbecue, or a main dish with some crusty bread and a tomato salad. Rosemary adds, "My four-year-old helps me make this by sampling the asparagus and pine nuts and stirring everything together when done."

Sherri remembers making chicken cutlets and other homeade favorites with her grandmother and her father, both great cooks! This is a classic chicken dish.

Smoothies are a great snack for everyone and refreshing on a hot day. You can have your kids pick out the fruit they want and you can substitute soy milk and yogurt for cow's milk products if you choose.

This smoothie recipe comes to us from Felicia B. Here's what she has to say about how her kids help to make their own smoothies: "To help make the smoothies, the children round up all of the ingredients and get the blender out. They put the ingredients in the blender and push the buttons to turn it on and off. I supervise, but they do the rest."
