WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE DISH TO MAKE WITH YOUR KIDS AS HELPERS?

Well, Hayley and I are 18, but we're still kids! Our Super Duper Spicy Pizza is our favorite dish to make.

CAN YOU GIVE THE SUPER DUPER SPICY PIZZA RECIPE?

Sure, we'd love to share it! This recipe serves four, or two really hungry teenagers!

INGREDIENTS:

  • Pre-made dough (any brand, we use Pillsbury)
  • Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO)
  • Tomato sauce (1 small jar)
  • Italian seasoning
  • Basil leaves
  • Whole oregano
  • Garlic powder
  • Cayenne pepper
  • Crushed red pepper
  • Shredded provolone and mozzarella cheese
  • Grated parmesan cheese
  • Chopped dried parsley

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Roll out the dough into a rectangular cookie sheet.
  3. Drizzle EVOO on the dough and bake in the oven for about seven minutes (or according to package directions) until it's nice and golden. Take the dough out of the oven, but leave the oven on so that you can cook the pizza in it later.
  4. Add a thin layer of sauce to the dough (add more if you like more sauce!)
  5. Add a palmful of basil leaves, Italian seasoning, whole oregano and garlic powder – enough to cover the pizza. Then, add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
  6. Add crushed red pepper on top (add a lot if you like it spicy; otherwise a few pinches will do if you like it more mild).
  7. Add the provolone cheese, then the parmesan cheese followed by the mozzarella cheese. Make sure there is tons of cheese – that's the best part (except for the crushed red peppers, of course)!
  8. Cook the pizza in the oven at 350°F for 13-18 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and the crust is nice and crispy.
  9. Garnish the top of the cheese with parsley.
  10. Be sure to turn the oven off before diving into the pizza! Yum-o!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHILDHOOD MEMORY INVOLVING COOKING AND EATING TOGETHER WITH YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS?

When I was younger, my family would have a Sunday Dinner every weekend. We would all take turns hosting it, and we had everything there! Everyone would bring something, whether it was dessert or pasta. Everything was so good and the house always smelled delicious! It was so much fun eating with the fam, laughing at memories and watching the Pats or Red Sox games!

WHAT TIPS OR ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR SOMEONE WHO IS NEW TO THE KITCHEN OR JUST GETTING THEIR KIDS INVOLVED IN THE KITCHEN?

If you are new to cooking, just experiment. Don't be afraid that you'll mess up – I love cooking, but boy do I make a mess! Just have fun!

If you don't want to cook alone, invite friends over. You'll have many laughs, especailly if things go wrong! If you want to get your kids involved, let them help with little things. I'm only 18, so I don't have kids just yet, but my parents used to let me help them in the kitchen and now I really love cooking!
