What is your favorite nutritious dish to make with family or friends?

12-year-old Brandt is already an amazing cook! He has started his own cookbook, which is filled with recipes he has found online as well as some that he has created on his own. "I am 12 years old and I started cooking at age 11," says Brandt. "I love being in the kitchen, so I created this recipe, Banana Fruit French Toast." According to his family, "It tastes absolutely incredible!"

CAN YOU GIVE THE Banana Fruit French Toast RECIPE?

Yes, I would love to share it! This recipe makes about 12-14 slices of French toast.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 3 bananas, divided
  • 1/4 cup milk or plain soy milk
  • 3 teaspoons cinnamon, divided
  • 2 tablespoons sugar, divided
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons jam (cook's choice, such as a combination of strawberry and blueberry jam)
  • 1 loaf of bread
  • 1/3 cup blueberries

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Mash one banana in a medium size bowl and add 1/4 cup milk. Stir them together slowly, then add 1 teaspoon cinnamon and 1 tablespoon sugar and stir until smooth and chunky.
  2. Put four eggs in a round mixing bowl. Add the remaining tablespoon sugar and stir to combine with the eggs. Add the remaining 2 teaspoons cinnamon, then add the banana mixture to the eggs. Lastly, add 2 tablespoons of the jam of your choice.
  3. Heat a large frying pan or griddle over medium-high heat. Dip the bread in the banana mixture and cook on the griddle, flipping once, until golden brown.
  4. After the French toast is cooked to your satisfaction, slice the remaining two bananas. Serve the French toast topped with the bananas and blueberries.

WHAT TIPS OR ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR SOMEONE WHO IS NEW TO THE KITCHEN OR JUST GETTING THEIR KIDS INVOLVED IN THE KITCHEN?

Brandt has this tip for fellow kid chefs: "Use a fork to mix the eggs!"
