Kicking4Hunger

October 31, 2011  •

Midland, North Carolina-based Kicking4Hunger fights hunger, empowers individuals and builds communities by providing a fun and educational soccer experience – free of charge – while simultaneously raising food to feed the hungry in the community.

Founded in the summer of 2006 as a summer project, the plan was simple: Instead of an admission fee to attend the organization’s soccer camp, Kicking4Hunger asked that each camper bring in a canned good donation every day that he or she attended. That year, 70+ children who benefited from the pilot camp helped raise over 1,500 pounds of canned goods that went to a local food bank.

Operating multiple camps each summer since 2006, Kicking4Hunger has worked to expand its breadth and outreach. Each year has witnessed more cans, more campers and more community involvement. With the tremendous response from the community, Kicking4Change is working towards expanding statewide, nationally and globally.
